The work boards we looked at in previous lessons are the heart of the system I use to manage my work and life in Notion.

One of the great things about Notion is that you can create any structure of pages, tables and documents that you want and organize them in whatever way works best for you.

This freedom of choice can also be overwhelming. So in this lesson, I want to show you the way I structure my Notion setup and show you examples of how I'm currently using it for my personal stuff as well as for work with my teams.

Should You Separate Work & Personal Tasks?

A question that often comes up is about work and private life separation in Notion. Particularly when it comes to the work board: should you have a separate board for all your work related stuff and one for personal projects, chores, family life etc?

In general, please heed my warning (from the lesson video) that spreading stuff onto multiple boards is rarely a good solution.

However, it does make sense to have a separate space for things like groceries or family vacations, if you want to manage those things within Notion as well.

My recommendation is this: if you work solo, keep everything in a single work board and create views for "business" and "personal" tasks.

If you work with a team, it makes sense to keep your private tasks in a completely separate board.
