Your #1 Top Priority

Here, we aim to conclude the work we've done in previous lessons. As you know, we're all about focus and so we will choose ONE top priority. This is one project that you choose to focus on, above all other work related projects.

Definition of Done

We want to clearly identify what “done” means for our #1 Top Priority.

This should be easily identifiable.

Think about defining it like this: if someone who has zero insider knowledge of your project looked at your Definition of Done, they should be able to say whether your project is done or not.

That's the level of clarity we want in our Definition of Done.

Create a Reminder for Yourself

If you generally struggle with setting priorities and you are the type of person who always has too many things going on, I recommend that you give yourself a reminder of this top priority.

I've created a simple template which you can download here as a .PSD file or here as a blank .PNG file.

You can use this as a template and insert your own text using Photoshop, Affinity Designer, Canva and countless other design tools. Canva is a good choice if you don't use any design tools at the moment (there's a free tier available). You can also easily use it to create a nice looking design for such a reminder, from scratch.

When you've created your reminder image, you can use it as a desktop background or print it out and hang it on the wall you face at your desk. You can also set it as a default background image for new tabs in Chrome or using this add-on in Firefox.

As a result, you will see continuous reminders of your top priority, making it less likely that you stray from your main goal.
